The documentary type show hosted by Robert Stack where real life mysteries where shown to the public and could feature anything from missing people to alien abductions.
Odd as it may seem, Virginia Madsen was co-host of Unsolved Mysteries for a few episodes in 1999. She was added as a last chance to boost the ratings after the show had moved to CBS from NBC a few years before.
Unfortunately it didn’t work and the show was cancelled for the second time in it’s run before moving on again to the Lifetime channel.
To add insult to injury, Ms Madsens narrations and hosting segments where re-recorded with Robert Stack when her season went to syndication.
I think the expression on her face in that picture says it all – Exactly, Virginia, exactly.
All in all a bit of an odd move for our Virginia. I’d guess this was the hard time in her career that she sometimes has mentioned in interviews. It wouldn’t have been that long after she’d done The Rainmaker (in which she is brilliant), so who knows?
Availability:
Not that easy to find, not available to buy. But I managed to find a couple of episodes after a little messing around (hence the reason for the not so great screen captures).
