So, “About” – I guess you’re wondering what this site is about then.

First things first. This isn’t a “fan” site. Well. It is, but not really.

I’m a long time fan of Virginia Madsen. I guess it all really started as a teenage crush thing for want of a better, less embarrassing way of putting it. But as I watched her in Films and TV over the years, got a little older and wiser, I began to truly appreciate just how good and, dare I say, under-appreciated an actress she really was. She has a properly wide range in her acting skills and it’s something I’ve admired about her for a long time.

I bought this domain name years ago, about 20 or so now. And, to be fair I started to build a fan site then but life got in the way. I let the domain lapse and it ended up being used for other things by other people. Nothing good. A few months ago while working on another website I idly checked the domain name and it was available for sale, so I bought it, again. Virginia’s name deserved  better than that [adopts superhero pose].

Over the years I’ve collected the vast majority of her work in both Film and TV in various formats, mainly DVD recently. My collection also includes bits and pieces of memorabilia that I’ve picked up along the way.

And, well – I guess I thought I couldn’t be the only one, I wanted a new project and a new way to collate my collection and so, well, I’d picked up the domain again and so, this.

I realise there is already an “official” site for our heroine and I don’t mean to or want to try and rival that and nor would I want to – I see this as being more for the collectors than I do anything else.

A few clicks here and there and hopefully you’ll get the idea properly.

Hopefully you’ll also be a collector as well and you will find this site useful in some way. I’m going to attempt to keep this as up to date as I can with releases of some of the harder to find (and easy!) releases out there. I’ve managed to acquire some, what I think, is good information and hopefully you can use it in some way.

I quite like “writing” and found myself writing quite a bit. As I was creating this site I was rewatching all of the movies I had in my collection, and trying to top up that collection at the same time. I was doing research into some bits and pieces and tried to include all of the stuff I found interesting along the way so it wasn’t “just a collectors site”, if you know what I mean.

Although I enjoy writing, as I said earlier I am by no means a professional, and nor do I really want to be. I just like writing and wanted to share as I was here anyways.

When it came to writing about the films as I was rewatching I tried to do a bit “more” around them as well. Finding interviews and quotes about them etc. Some of the more famous ones have had enough written about them already (Dune, Highlander 2 etc) so while I’ve commented on them I’ve also left it up to you to find your own stuff out about that, but given you a point in the right direction all the same.

I’ve tried to include links where I’ve thought they might be handy as well – Related articles, actors / actress pages (or at least a wikipedia link) – in this day and age there is a lot of information already out there, I’ve just tried to keep it all relevant.

I’ll also hold my hands up and say that when I first started this project I did fully intend to watch everything all over again from the start. And, that didn’t quite happen. I quickly realised there was some stuff I just didn’t have a lot of interest in and sitting through those would have killed my enthusiasm. And then there are the, uhm, Grace Stirs Up Success kind of things that just aren’t aimed at me.

I guess in some ways this has ended up more of a “fan site” than I originally intended but hopefully I kept the core reason for it in the first place – Somewhere people could go and find out more on Virginia Madsen and the various projects she’s been involved with over the years, and more importantly – Where to find them where and when possible.
