Hornet’s Nest is a 2012 made for TV Movie. It’s based on the Patricia Cornwell novel of the same name and was likely an attempt to being the franchise, or at the least the character to a new media. Virginia Madsen takes on the role one of the book series regulars, Chief Judy Hammer. Joining her are other regulars, Virginia West (Sherry Stringfield) and Investigative Reporter Andy Brazil (Robbie Amell).

The story tales place in Charlotte, N.C. and revolved around a new serial killer in the town. Judy and Virginia (West) are keen to get the case sorted (well, yeah) and pull out all the stops to get the job done, including roping the investigator assigned to the Police Force by his paper.

It’s exactly what you think it is, and it’s as good as you think it’s going to be.
Once again Virginia Madsen seems wasted, I wish I could say otherwise, but I can’t.

I actually watched this trying to find something good to hang a light on, but it’s all quite generic and basic switch your brain off and don’t think too hard about it stuff.
There are two more books in the series but they never got made, if that was ever the plan.
